Funding coming to improve Alberta livestock production

by News Staff Posted May 11, 2014 3:13 pm MDT The Alberta Livestock and Meat Agency is trying to help increase the productivity and competitiveness of the province’s livestock and meat industry.They’re investing $5 million in genomics research to Genome Alberta.David Bailey, President and CEO of Genome Alberta, said the funding could go to multiple projects.“Food safety, animal production, animal welfare, food quality, these kind of topics would be eligible,” Bailey said.He added the research should help farmers in Alberta compete with other countries.
