Man backs into patrol car runs is caught and arrested

first_imgVancouver police arrested a 27-year-old man Tuesday evening after he allegedly backed a car into an officer’s patrol car around East Fourth Plain and Grand boulevards and fled on foot.Adam L. Staten, hometown unavailable, was captured near Fairmount Avenue just north of Fourth Plain, said Sgt. Kathy McNicholas with the Vancouver Police Department. He was arrested for a previously issued misdemeanor warrant; additional charges relating to Tuesday’s incident might be filed later.Shortly before 5:40 p.m. Tuesday, an officer signaled the suspect to pull over for a traffic violation. Staten backed into the police car, causing minor if any damage, and ran off, police said.The officer was not injured. Several more officers converged and took positions around the area.Police deployed a tracking dog and one or more witnesses called 911 to report seeing the man.Staten was captured about 5:47 p.m., minutes after he fled from the traffic stop.A passenger in the car with Staten also fled, but officers had no cause to arrest him and didn’t chase him, McNicholas said.John Branton: 360-735-4513 or [email protected]last_img read more
